So many women come to counselling feeling stretched thin by the demands of everyday life.

Perhaps you’re balancing parenting, work and relationships, often putting everyone else first until there’s very little left for yourself. Or maybe you’ve noticed how hormonal changes, whether linked to your cycle, postnatal shifts or the menopause, are affecting your mood, energy and confidence in ways that feel hard to manage. These experiences are deeply personal, yet they are also something many women quietly share.

Counselling can be a place to stop, take a breath and give yourself permission to focus on you. In my York practice, I work with women who are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, parenting pressures and the impact of hormonal changes. Together we explore not only the challenges but also the strengths, resources and possibilities that may have been overlooked in the rush of daily life.

My approach is integrative and person-centred, drawing on compassion-focused and attachment-based principles. That means I meet you where you are, tailoring therapy to your unique needs and life stage, whether you’re caring for young children, adjusting to teenagers leaving home, or finding your way through midlife transitions. I also adhere to the BACP ethical guidelines and engage in regular supervision and ongoing professional development, ensuring my practice is both safe and supportive.

So often, women come to counselling saying they “should be able to cope” but the truth is, nobody should have to carry everything alone. Talking with someone in a safe, non-judgemental space can help lighten the load and open the door to new perspectives.

If some of this feels familiar, counselling can be a gentle first step towards feeling more balanced and supported. You don’t need to have everything worked out before you begin — we can take things one step at a time and explore together what might help you feel stronger and more at ease.
